California Public Utilities Commission Approves SoCal Edison’s 2025-2028 Rates
On September 18, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approved Southern California Edison’s (SCE) 2025 General Rate Case. This decision sets the total revenue SCE may collect from customers through 2028. While authorized revenue doesn’t translate directly into individual customer rates, it generally drives increases that all customers will see to some extent on their utility bills.
Key Rate Highlights
| Year | Approved Annual Total Revenue ($B) | Change from Prior Year (system average) |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 8.582 | – |
| 2025 | 9.664 | 12.6% |
| 2026 | 10.208 | 5.6% |
| 2027 | 10.730 | 5.1% |
| 2028 | 11.177 | 4.2% |
Because of retroactive adjustments, SCE will recover the difference between 2025 collections and the newly approved revenue over 24 months starting next month. This means some 2025 increases will effectively be collected in 2026 and 2027.
