The Oakland Unified School District Success Story

I’m always gratified by helping our program participants achieve outstanding outcomes on their utility projects, but this holds special meaning to me when we can put a significant amount of savings back into a California School District.

I couldn’t have been more pleased to open an email from Brendan Havenar-Daughton, former Energy & Sustainability Manager at the Oakland Unified School District, thanking the SPURR team (particularly Jeremy Seng) for our committed support and expert consulting. This project led the district to $6 million in savings via our REAP Program, $1.1 million in savings through Direct Access, and in addition a $50K refund and elimination of Utility User Taxes incorrectly assessed by PG&E on 60 school district accounts. This comes in addition to assisting the district with a 26 school solar rollout that generated 3.5 GW of clean, sustainable solar energy.

Brendan wrote, “On behalf of the Oakland Unified School District, and especially our students, I want to offer my sincerest gratitude for the support and  commitment your team has shown our district.” That sentiment means the world to us.
